She has worked both in the oil-related private sector and within the NHS. Her interest in people and their well-being began initially with a career in nursing but her interest in psychology grew with her desire to empower people to take more control of their own health and wellness. She completed an MA (Hons) in Psychology and later a PhD in Health Psychology at the University of Aberdeen.
Taking an integrated approach with therapy, Susan calls on elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy, transactional analysis and person centred therapies, tailoring them to suit your personal needs - she strongly believes that regardless of the approach used, it is the strength of the therapeutic relationship that is the key to recovery and aims to provide a safe, supportive space for you to explore your issues and experiences. Working together, in a sensitive and collaborative way, enables most people to achieve the differences they want in their lives and could help you to create the life you want for yourself too.
At home, Susan has a grown up family, step-children and grand-children and has experienced all the trials, tribulations, joy and lessons that combining families can bring. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dogs, gardening, travelling and spending time with her partner and family.
